Development of LNG bunker supply vessel progressing rapidly

2015-07-02 Company news

The tender process initiated by Bomin Linde LNG for contracting a LNG bunker supply vessel has entered the final phase. The vessel is expected to be ordered in the third quarter this year and will become operational in 2017.

In February 2015 Klaipedos Nafta, operator of the first full scale LNG terminal in the Baltic Sea region, and Bomin Linde LNG, Germany-based provider of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as marine fuel, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop the LNG fuel market in the Baltic Sea in particular the development of a LNG bunker supply vessel.

This state-of-the-art LNG bunker supply vessel will provide bunkering services in the entire Baltic and North Sea. Besides LNG bunkering the vessel will also transport LNG to other LNG terminals and to the LNG reloading station in Klaipeda, which is being developed by 2017 by Klaipedos Nafta.

With a total capacity of up to 7.000 cubic meters, a powerful set of adjustable pumps and on-board re-liquefaction equipment the vessel will be able to serve a broad set of client vessels with different tank types and capacities. The propulsion and steering system is designed to be highly manoeuvrable so Bomin Linde LNG can serve client vessels with short duration port stays in a very flexible way.
