2016-01-25 Company news

For the first time in an educational institution Klaipeda Lyceum event organized by the Career Day and Career Night, Klaipedos Nafta liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal engineers gave lectures for schoolchildren of 8-12 classes about a new study program at Klaipeda University (KU) starting from September – LNG engineering.

During the event, experts presented information of the new program at KU, prospects and benefits. Also shared insights on the functioning Lithuanian LNG facilities, LNG terminals’ characteristics, the emerging LNG market in the Baltic countries, LNG technologies and their perspective, shared the experience of engineering and work practice.

"LNG market and technology in Lithuania is relatively young and innovative, making it one of the company's goals to develop effective cooperation in education and science. Potential specialists, qualified engineers and professional staff in LNG field must be helped to grow, especially as we are able to share this experience. The most effective way to achieve this – as early as possible to enable the students to experiment and analyze specialized information, that is what our company's specialists do" – said Mantas Bartuška, SC Klaipedos Nafta CEO.

According to Mr. Bartuška, it is important to mention that LNG as an innovative technology in Lithuania receives a lot of support at the state level, so this is an opportunity for all – business, education and the state to create a value chain in the emerging LNG market.

"The event is for students who choose their field of science – studies, Career Day and Career Night is very useful, because the students can learn about specific training or study not from a teacher, but the one who has acquired the specialty and who deals with technological equipment and can lively present how it works, explain what it can do, talks about the practical side. It's a whole different experience than traditional lessons. It is a way to meet other specific studies, disembarking from the daily routine. And I must say that these lectures are enjoyed not only by students but also by teachers"- said Edita Mačiulskė, manager of Career Management Center.
