SC Klaipedos Nafta is liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal operator, which, according to the European Union's Third Energy Package, is not engaged in the import of natural gas, and cannot negotiate with existing or potential customers for the obligatory natural gas imports. The company is engaged in LNG reception, reload, storage, and delivery to the natural gas grid. State’s nominated LNG supplier – state controlled company LITGAS is responsible for the supply of necessary LNG quantity, the company has a contract with Statoil. During the comment for Bloomberg what was meant is that Lithuania natural gas consumption decreases resulting discussions on natural gas imports, LNG usage for heating and transport.
