Sociedad Portuaria El Cayao S.A. ESP (SPEC LNG) developed and operates the LNG terminal located at the Port of Cartagena on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. As the first LNG import terminal of its kind in Colombia, the project strengthens the country’s energy system and ensures natural gas supply to three major power plants on the northern coast of Colombia. The terminal has been in operation since December 2016.
The Cartagena LNG Terminal comprises a 700-metre jetty, the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Höegh Grace, and a 10 km natural gas pipeline connected to the national gas transmission system.

2015
KN Energies begins providing consultancy services for the Cartagena LNG Terminal project.
Following the award of the consultancy services tender, KN Energies provided SPEC LNG with consultancy services related to the technical conditions of port and terminal operations, as well as risk and safety management. KN Energies also contributed to the training of key specialists and supported the commissioning and start-up of terminal operations. The consultancy services were provided in 2015–2016.
